To mark the United Nations World Day of Creativity and Innovation on the 21st April, EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel released a statement voicing Europe’s support for Ukrainian Cultural Heritage organisations and professionals impacted by the Russian war against Ukraine. She outlined how the Commission is providing support to Ukrainian artists, culture professionals and culture organisations which includes funding as well as delivering emergency equipment and material for the protection of Ukrainian cultural heritage. Among the initiatives highlighted was the project’s “Save the Ukraine Monuments”, an initiative to save the digital documentation of Ukrainian cultural heritage, to preserve its memory and support the future restoration of assets from the damages caused by the war.
